A Misogynist's Source Book

An infuriating anthology of quotations against women.

From Buddha to the Beatles from the Code of the Hammurabi to Hitler, from The Bible to The Sun, there are quotes on every aspect of femininity. Fidelis has played the authors against one another, finding unlikely neighbours. She also contributed an introduction discussing the whole subject of Misogyny in Life and Art.

In compiling A Misogynist's Source Book, Fidelis Morgan wafts a welcome breeze of comic dismay through the complacency of feminist and misogynist alike. City Limits

An absorbing and fascinating work. Cosmopolitan

This splendid and depressing anthology. David Profumo (Literary Review)

It is wincingly compelling. A salutary must for the bathroom bookshelf, that repository of tomes worthy of regular pondering. Jonathon Green - Books

Fidelis and a group of actors gave an energetic reading of selections from this book for the Birmingham Readers and Writers Festival.

The cast then included Josie Lawrence, Celia Imrie, Laurance Rudic, Andy Serkis and Christopher Webber.

In June 2006, the performance was recreated at the Abroad Writers Festival in Provence, with a cast including Fidelis, Juliet Cadzow and Jane Bertish.

This is a fascinating book, and Morgan's biographical surmises and final commentary combine scholarliness (she has unearthed several new facts) with common sense.
